| Connecticut | Connecticut requires that children sleep on a cot. However, in a group daycare home, an individual mat may be substituted for an individual cot. |
| Delaware | Delaware requires that mats be non-water absorbent and have cleanable coverings. |
| Florida | Florida requires that floor mats must be at least one (1) inch thick and covered with an impermeable surface. |
| Georgia | Georgia stipulates that mats must be in good repair, washable, and covered in a waterproof material and at least two (2) inches thick. Mats shall also be of sound construction and sufficient size to accommodate the size and weight of the child. |
| Hawaii | Hawaii does not provide nap mat or cot regulations. Follow local regulations, and use mats or cots that comply with federal consumer guidelines. |
| Idaho | Idaho does not have an formal nap mat rules or regulations other than the cot, mat, and blanket that are to be cleaned and sanitized regularly. |
| Illinois | Illinois does not allow nap mats in day care – children must sleep on a cot. |
| Indiana | Indiana does not allow nap mats in day care – children must sleep on a cot. |
| Iowa | Iowa does not allow nap mats to be used for children under two years of age. For children older than two, any nap mat that complies with federal consumer laws should be legal for the day care. |
| Kansas | Kansas requires mats to be 1/2 (0.5) an inch thick, and washable or enclosed in a washable cover. Additionally, the mat must be long enough that the child’s head and feet rest on the pad. |
| Kentucky | Kentucky requires nap mats to be two (2) inches thick and waterproof. |
